To overcome is the difference between living life to the fullest versus simply existing. When I was ten years old, I received this epiphany and I lived by it ever since. In my personal reflection on what it is to overcome, in my mind’s eye it is laid out in the form of playing an old Nintendo RPG (role-playing game) video game.
You start at the beginning of a level (whether Solo or with a partner). You face some challenges along the way. You the have opportunity to grow or shrink, sometimes you lose a bit of life and sometimes you gain extra life. You have the chance to explore that level you are on as vaguely or deeply as you please or you can simply stay the course! No matter how you get there, or how long it takes you to get there you know at the end of that level you’re going to face the big boss. If you want to overcome you have to defeat that boss or face defeat and restart the level.
Life is series of levels we have to overcome to become our best-self. Though my analogy is as juvenile as can be the principle stands true. Thank you for your indulgence.
